Your Vegan Baby ShowerYour vegan baby shower is the first stop on
the road to compassion for your new baby. CONGRATULATIONS! Remember, this day is all about you (and your baby of course), so it should reflect your values and beliefs, from the food you serve to the party favors you give out to your guests. Here are a some suggestions: VENUE: For an extra special baby shower, have it at an animal sanctuary
surrounded by rescued animals. MENU: If you are not up to scouring the website or vegan cookbooks for homemade recipes, have it catered by a restaurant- for a list of veg restaurants in your area check out HappyCow. Check in with your local veg restaurants about vegan cakes, or else make your own cake. For something fun, check out these adorable onesie-shaped vegan cookies, and watermelon baby stroller filled with fruit. DECOR: Since this is your shower and you care about animals (and we all know that babies innately love animals too!), plan a fun animal theme such as farm animals (but be very careful not to perpetuate the myth of happy farm animals grazing in sunny pastures- you can call them "rescued farm animals"), ocean creatures, bugs, or another one of your favorite animals. GIFTS: Registering online will not only ensure that you get exactly what you want, but also ensure that the gifts are vegan. You can register online at Kidbean-- all of their products are vegan, labor- friendly, and earth-friendly. Mother Earth and Baby also has an online registry with organic, eco-friendly products for Baby and Mom. Click here for a detailed list of where to buy natural, green baby products including bedding, clothing, toys and other accessories. FAVORS: Some options for party favors include a soy votive candle, vegan chocolate bites, LUSH bath products, or Lego-shaped vegan soaps. Or instead of a gift, you can donate money in honor of your guests to an animal charity or sanctuary that you support such as Farm Sanctuary, The Humane Society of the United States, or even your local animal shelter. You can put the information on the invitation, or design and print small cards to pass out to your guests at the shower. BABY LIBRARY: A fabulous idea is to ask each guest to bring a book to help start your new baby's library. You can add this to the invitation with a special request for friends and family to buy an animal-friendly book. You can refer them to Vegbooks- a kids book review site focused on animal-friendly books- for ideas. Enjoy! |
